Wing Mission Statement

Hello and thank you for your interest in the 388th VFW. In existence since July 1999, the 388th consists of a group of dedicated pilots who enjoy flying both cooperatively and competitively. We are one of the most active wings on the internet, our pilots having logged more than 50,000 hours since 2001. The 388th strives for realism in flight, and we are proud of the fact that we have built a wing that promotes both teamwork and friendship. We base the 388th on military structure and work hard to assist our members in all aspects of the Falcon AF simulation.

 Enlistment Interview Procedures

Prior to acceptance into the 388th cadet training program, each candidate must undergo an interview with some of the senior members of the wing.  This interview gives wing members an opportunity to meet you and to learn why you have chosen the 388th. At the interview you will be asked about your simulation background, computer system, connection, and the peripherals you have installed for flying.  Any questions you have about the wing will be answered at that time. Interviews are generally held at 8 PM Central. TeamSpeak is used for the interview and for voice communications for regular wing activities. TeamSpeak will need to be configured prior to your interview.

If accepted as a cadet, you will be assigned to the 16th "Tomahawks" Virtual Training Squadron for 8 weeks. While in this squad, you will be required to pass 8 training hops before you can be considered for full membership. The training hops are designed to teach you the fundamentals of flight, navigation, radar, and weapons systems. Instructor pilots are available to help you with these flights. Once you become a full member we require you to fly with other wing members for a minimum of 5 hours each month.

Most 388th wing members live in the Western Hemisphere, mainly in the US and Canada. Most wing flights are scheduled in the evenings within US Time Zones. We do accept applicants and members from other locations, however those outside of the standard wing time zones will be responsible for completing their training and maintaining their minimum flight hours within the constraints of normal 388th flight times.

Feel free to explore our website.  We encourage you to download and review the Cadet training hop package. Please review these requirements prior to making the decision to apply.
